Saturday morning was cold, (50 degrees) raining, and windy,so I did the
exchange of labor for money thing until 2:00 pm.Then I called a sailor
friend and former dock mate who just happened to have a couple of hours to
spare,he met me at the lake and helped me set-up and launch Country
Rhodes.It took us 1.25 hrs,my best time so far.After just coming off a 500
mile road trip,I had the upper shrouds and backstays de-rigged for better
traveling,so it took a little longer to rig than the normal short hop to the
lake.
Last winter, just before Christmas, the lake got to over 20' above normal
pool. All of the floating docks washed away, along with about 50 pontoon
boats that were stored in the dock renters parking lot. In all that mess
they managed to get my dock back to me,It still had my 2 cleats screwed on
both ends, but my dock box got torn off in the shuffle(a $5.00 Rubbermaid
knock-off)
The water is about 6 feet over normal since it's rained for the last 5
days(and is raining as I type this), so I'm not sure I can make it under the
power lines that cross the channel out to the main lake. It's supposed to
snow tonight,so I won't have to worry about for a day or two.
So,to answer your question Rummy,I didn't sail this weekend,but I did motor
to my slip.
