[Rhodes22-list] Public Radio and TV

Saroj,

The original purpose of PBS was to "serve an
underserved market". In this day and age with TV,
cable, talk radio, satellite radio, websites and
web-blogs, and oh yea, newspapers, do we have any
"underserved markets"? As you pointed out, every
institution has its own bias and by your admission,
PBS has one as well. Not to be a hypocrite, PBS is
currently on in the background as my daughter is
watching a children's show. I like PBS, listen to
NPR, and contribute money. We've purchased enough
Seseme Street tapes to fund that program for a while.
My beef with the whole concept is using taxpayer
money. Let PBS duke it out in the marketplace. Using
public funding to provide services that are already
well served by the marketplace is socialistic.

Brad
