Michael,

I'm still gathering facts, but I read somewhere that 50,000 people were
evacuated through the airport. Brad might have a better number. If
that's true, it's close to the entire population of Galveston. People
were airlifted to the Convention Center by people acting under FEMA
despite the fact that there were no FEMA buses to take them away.
People were also airlifted to the airport for evacuation. I'm quite
sure the President has the ability to commandeer civilian aircraft in a
national emergency without asking for anyone's permission. Again, Brad
would know for sure. Many didn't get to the airport or the convention
center until day 3 because they were sitting on their roofs until day 3.

They were sitting on their roofs because the water got higher than it
ever could from the effects of a hurricane, and chased them up the
stairs of their own homes after the danger of the hurricane had passed.
The water was rising a bit too fast to pause to make peanut butter
sandwiches for the whole gang. FEMA didn't even know the levees broke
until 8 hours after the hurricane hit, and they did not tell people when
they found out, so the people could make peanut butter sandwiches and
wait on their roofs for help to come.

You seem to have no problem with your bullshit meter when you and others
start making up facts to fit your politics. But when someone actually
finds facts that can be confirmed, then, suddenly, you become
uninterested. I think policies should fit facts, not the other way
around. People slammed my facts with their politics, so I double
checked. My facts are right, you can check them if you're interested,
and I think the policies of President Bush are wrong.
