And this question goes to others who can give the reference and good and
simple answer:

My steaming light evidentially is a lot lower than Jerry's. In fact I have
seen the lights anywhere from the spreaders to the tipy top. Where do we
find the Coast Guard rules on the location of the steaming, anchor and
lights that show port and starboard? Is there a web site?

Is there a light that goes on the top that is legal for all purposes? I was
looking at an older boat that only had the steaming light and no red or
green lights that I could identify. Have they had changes where the lights
are supposed to be?

This site is vague. http://www.navcen.uscg.gov/mwv/navrules/rules/Rule22.htm
Are the regulations all that vague?
