[Rhodes22-list] Rhodes ContinentaL RUDDER

Barbara,

On your 1974, the rudder blade has the exact same shape as the
centerboard. The spot where the hole is drilled for the pivot may be
slightly different though, and the rudder only weight about 1/3 the
weight of the centerboard. If you look at the keel, you will probably
see a cover with two screws on each side. This is the pivot pin access
for the c/b. Drive the pin out and the c/b will fall out, but put a
stopper knot on the end of the c/b pennant line in the cockpit first and
watch you toe-zies!

I could trace mine (side view) and mail it to you, but you'd still
have to have your carpenter eye ball the profile shaping by looking at
the centerboard.

It would probably be a huge time if not money savings if you just called
GB.

Thanks Bob - It is just the blade that needs replacing and I
thought about a stencil but have to locate another to make a
stencil. I have a master carpenter that can do anything, but need
the stats. East central Florida waters is where we are located.
Great sailing if I didn't have a rudder that is creating a huge
drag!

makeshift or the whole the tiller/rudder assembly.
If it is just the blade you can use a blade from another R-22 as a
stencil
and either have one made by a shop or yourself if you are only slightly
skilled in carpentry / fibreglass work. What part of the country do you
sail?
