Mark,
For 16 years of sailing the length and bredth of the Chesapeake on
my Rhodes I never had a nescesity for either GPS (true they werent really
availabel) nor a Depth sounder. Stan's is right about the crab killing and
oyster atomizing properties of the centerboard. I did spring for both GPS
(hand held) and a small depth sounder when I took my curent Rhodes to Baja.
I felt it was necessary with the 12 foot tides and remote area. For the
price, they are so cheep I can't see any reason not to have them ,if only
for convience.

"depth finder" or "G" for "GPS," I just noticed the "instruments' section on
the FAQ which appears to have a lot of info about GPS and depth finders ...
I should've known this would have been discussed before ... I'm sure Ed is
already cranking out an email telling me so! :-)

what you think. But I'll go read through the FAQ now.
