      I do not have the Yamaha 9.9 nor remote... I recommend that you call
Stan Sunday or in the evening during the week and discuss the matter with
him.  
      It has to do with the close tolerance of the remote to motor hook up. 
Just any remote does not work.  As of two years ago only Yamaha made such a
unit with the necessary close fit and they discontinued exporting that model
to the US.  Stan immediately cornered the market on those units to take care
of future sales.
      Yes there are other models with extensions, but they do not work with
the Rhodes 22 type motor mount because of the close fit of the motor
adapter.  Again, discuss the problem with Comodore Spitzer.  At least this
was the case two years ago, Stan would know of any changes out there.
