I will add my two bits to this conversation.  Prior to putting my boat on
the water for the first time last year, I read through the owners manual
(twice, I think).  Unfortunately, I didn't review the trailer loading
section again before the haul out at the end of the season.  I forgot about
the keel being partially dropped and I also set the trailer too deep.  It
took us (myself and three helpers) about 30 minutes to get the boat on the
trailer!  Several times we thought we had it and when my wife pulled the
boat out of the water we discovered the keel had settled on the starboard
bunk. When I got home, I noticed that the starboard bunk was damaged.  That
day, October 11, 2005 will be permanently burned into my memory because of
the painful lessons learned.

Needless to say, I appreciate this message string because it allows me to
remember my stupid mistakes.
