Ed,

Someone sugested Subaru. Our family has had a flock of Subarus over the 
years.  Generally long lived but watch ot for the mid to late 90's 2.5 litre 
engines.  All I have known of required espensive valve jobs around 100,000 
miles.  In contrast, had a 92 Legacy 2.2 litre that went 300,000 + trouble 
free.
