Art,
It depends on the size of your restore file you allocated on your computer. Usually, the default will restore the entire system (the key program files while resetting some of your personal files) to an earlier time, but it is a marching program. That is, as you move ahead a month, you can't go back by the same number of days you move ahead. Primarly it uninstalls exe and system changes to get around spy ware and pseudo-computer experts like me who can sometimes do more damage screwing with system files than one would like ;').
And Brad, LISTEN TO Ed K. He is right. That is what I meant when I said I ended up getting a new hard drive. The problem is deep; that's why the website doesn't recognize your certificate. I put off saving my files and it came back with a vengence. Back up your stuff NOW. Get the certificate straight. Restore may not replace the certificate (and probably didn't). As Ed said, you should have the restoration disk that came with the computer. You will have to scrub and restore the system. Just running the restore disk will probably not work. It did not work for me. If all your stuff is burned to CD then you'll be fine, you can put it back when you're done. You can also transfer your files to "my network places" if you have a home network of more than one computer or a laptop. I have a wireless network with three to four (four when I come home on pass) computers. If you have another computer you can put an ethernet cable connexion and transfer files. There are many
ways, but do it if you can.

Philip
P.S. Thanks Ed. I didn't think to go beyond the restoration.
