[Rhodes22-list] SHE'S HOME!!!

Hank & Shawn,

Glad to hear that she made it home without problems. As I said yesterday,
you guys got a great deal (actually "stepped in it"), although Shawn's
fiancé may not agree, yet. It appears that Dr. G took pretty good care of
her, with the exception of the bottom paint. Let me know what the sails
look like when you get a chance to unfurl everything for inspection. With
luck, the genoa may only need a new cover. If you don't already know a
local sail loft, find one - you can save many dollars through simple repairs
until you need (or can afford) a new suite of sails. The funny thing is
that my sailmaker is right around the block from the yard that your boat was
stored at - Wedekind Sails.

As far as the mold problem goes, my advice still stands: replace all of the
soft goods (cushions, vberths, etc.), properly repair, caulk and seal the
deck, clean all surfaces thoroughly, dry and keep dry. I am sure that there
is mold in the lazarette. Time and nose will tell.

As far as the photos go, I am so upset with the LG/QualComm folks. I was
taught how to take a snapshot some 50 years ago by my Dad using a Kodak
Brownie. When I looked for the photos last night, I could find none. Over
the years, I have managed to take the inside of a lens cap and shoot with
invisible film (not properly loaded), but I never had to PRESS THE SAVE
BUTTON after taking each shot (pressing the TAKE button.) Oh well, lesson
learned - I've been "taken."

All in all, I was happy to help. I only wish more people would provide a
few hours and their experience on a Sunday afternoon to make this place a
bit nicer. I heartily welcome you folks to the strangest, most diverse and
opinionated sailing family around.

Mike

I'm sorry to say that I forgot my camera although Shawn, my partner in the
boat, and Mike took photos with their camera phones. Other than that the
pics on the add are pretty representative o her condition. One thing, there
was a lot of speculation that she had mold. First indication is that she
does not.
