Philip,

You are getting very close to the real issue - the dysfunction of the Muslim
states (most of which are a variant of Marxism with an Islamic patina).
Let's say out of a billion Muslims (to keep the math simple) 990 million are
more interested in getting a decent meal, housing, and education for their
kids.  They don't know what the Pope said and could give a shit if they do.
They hear far worse from their own religious leaders.  The leaders of these
failed states use Islam to promote their own agendas because they can't stay
in power by creating real prosperity among their citizens.  That is
precisely why success in Iraq is so important.
