[Rhodes22-list] Politics, History, and Modern Warfare

Since the debate over Iraq is sure to heat-up in the coming weeks and
months, with a new speech tonight and a show-down on funding, you might want
to do some studying to 'bone-up' on the issues. You probably won't hear
anything new from the media or Capital Hill other than the usual, "he said,
she said" blather. The Army just published a new counterinsurgency manual
(COIN) and it is available at the following website:

 www.leavenworth.army.mil

Scroll down to the middle of the page and download (pdf) both the manual and
Military Review's analysis. Both are over 200 pages long and I've only had
time to make it through about 20% of both. So far, it has been facinating
reading and an interesting review of history and warfare. Anyone who still
believes that the US Military doesn't have some really smart people will be
suprised.

Happy reading!

Brad
