For very large files (up to 2gB), I use a free service known as www.sendthisfile.com.  This solves the problem of the email limitation (8mb.)  So far, I can't see anything wrong with the service and there seems to be no need to upgrade to the paid product.  See the free account overview at http://www.sendthisfile.com/info/sendthisfile.jsp.

If you establish an account, just upload the file to www.sendthisfile.com and publish the notification link to the list.
