[Rhodes22-list] free sailboat

The project shouldn't be too hard as this will be my third major rebuild of
a Rhodes so I have the patterns, and materials laying about. I'm working on
the admiral, kinda like asking if she minds if I get a spare wife I think.
I won't keep you in doubt much longer. Would probably come out spring break
the end of March. I would find time to swing by Stan's to buy a few goodies
but mostly to say Hi the him and Rose. Thanks for the invite, I don't snore
too loudly.

Chris,

The cb needs a "Rosenberg" but have a much easier repair than the way Lou
did it. The PO, a boat savvy Captain from Naples, FL, provided a high lift
cb from a Bucanneer. This board fits but is a little too thick and can be
sanded down about 3/16, reglassed and made to work. I admire Lou's
persistence, but I think this repair would be much easier.

The rest would be normal boat carpentry stuff. The white cedar sills are
out and I was going to replace them. The galley counter top (particle board)
is shot, as is the galley floor. All the teak plywood is out except the
panel and post to the left/forward of the galley. Rather than spending $2K
on a galley from Stan, you could build a small settee there with storage
under and make a great daysailer.

The trailer and motor are from Raven (Mark and Julie Kaynor) and seem OK.
No trailer problems pulling from Blacksburg, about 3.5 hours. We used the
motor once at Kerr Lake before Raven got a TwoHatSue. (It's a little louder
and a lot smokier than a 4c, but lighter - don't want to go there and spark
that debate again).

If you really want to take on this project all the way from way out there,
I'll try to make it easier. My guest room is normally available. If we can
pick a good time to schedule your trip east, we could also take Raven to
Eastern NC, say Ocracoke, or the Cheaspeake (only 3-5 hours, depending on
where). I'm sure we can think of a few places to go there.

PT
