Al,

I’m interested in your post regarding using another solar panel to support a
fridge and stove on your boat. How many amps will your fridge and stove
draw?

Our boat is newer, a refurbished ‘89, with one solar panel. Notionally I
see the solar power panel as keeping the batts (we have 2) topped off at the
slip, not as supporting a significant base load during the daytime when
underway. It hadn’t occurred to me that you could get enough amps to power a fridge
and stove, the rest of your base load (radio, starter, etc), and also top
off your batt for the night (i.e. add lights) with a solar panel - unless it
were very large. Also it would be interesting to see if that entire enhanced
base load could be supported by your one batt throughout a night. Have you
done that analyses, or do you have experience that shows it's possible? Any
numbers?

Dave
