Alan:

In getting this list you are offered two options. The daily diatribe or
digested version. The digested version allows you to get a collected
version, however, you miss the chatter back and forth on a daily basis.
Brad has offered another solution. There are other solutions somewhere in
the archives. However, you belong here. Even old guys need to get their
blood pressure up...

Jay B:

If you have specific information about the Rhodes 22 you have at least three
options. First, go to General Boats Web site. Second, get on the list and
ask specific questions. Third, learn to search the archives for specific
subjects.

How did this current state of affairs come about? Many of us were on an old
Sail Net email list before 2000. That list restricted post to sailing
related topics. There was a problem. After a few days there were post
saying 'this is a test message'. And usually included the comment just
seeing if the list was working. By allowing all the unrestricted diatribe
that is seldom an issue. However, 'test' still occassionally happens.

Back about 2000 a member of this forum and a computer lizard, suggested that
he had capability to host a forum. So this list was created from the old
Rhodes list and the rest is history. After that time there were still some
who wanted the resticted format of the Sail Net list and there was
occassional activity on it. Who started the political chatter? Hum? Check
out the term EC or enlightened capitalist.

Keep in mind the main group on this forum are Rhodes 22 owners, a few former
owners, a couple of hangers on, a few newbies and a couple of wanbees. Just
look back, when you asked a technical question, did you get some relevant
answers? While we are not here as General Boats answer department, we
generally offer tacit support. And sometimes we are dead wrong, as
illustrated in the recent comments by Stan to Michael W. However, we are
here, thanks to Michael Meltzer.
