Yo Jason,

Perhaps I’m showing my ignorance, but we - the list - need to know more
about you. Where you are located and where is your brother is located? Where do
you intend to sail? So would you please introduce yourself and give us a
bit about your brother. This is not just extraneous information. If you’re
located in Fl and there’s a boat available in Mich, it’s likely of no use to
you - unless you’re willing to travel a fair amount and trailer back. As part
of the trailer back info, do you have the vehicle & trailer to haul it? Do
you want a trailer to? Are you or your brother interested in fixing up a boat
- i.e. a project - or are you looking for something that’s seaworthy to
start? How soon do you want it? Do you want the IMF rig or standard rig? These
are essential questions that need to be answered before anyone can begin to
help you. Maybe you’ve answered these and other questions before and I missed
it, if so I apologize.

As a general matter, though, there aren’t usually a lot of good used R22's
laying around. It’s an excellent boat and enough prospective owners have
figured it out that the boats move quickly when they become available.

Stan Spitzer at General Boats is an excellent resource and source for used
R22s and refurbished R22s. He’s got his fingers on the pulse of the used R22
market, he has used R22s in house, he refurbishes R22s, and he’ll even make
you a new R22 if you want one. A boat from Stan may cost a bit more than
something you could pick up on EBay, but he’ll support his product and his
product will work - support is critical, especially on any older boat. R22s become
available from time to time, but you have to monitor this list, EBay, check
the ads in boating magazines, etc, and when one comes up you have to pounce -
this gets to the issue of how soon do you need the boat, it’s condition, how
much effort are you willing to devote to buying it (time spent reading the
list, mags, shopping for boats and then deciding you don’t want that one,
etc). If you haven’t already, I recommend you go to www. Rhodes22.com, check it
out, and after you’ve read and understood it all give Stan a call. If you
and your brother are serious, I’d bet Stan can find a way to help you out with
an R22.

Welcome to the list.

Dave
