       The boom room gave us at least 3 times the living space we'd otherwise be limited to with only the cabin area.   I've already measured and making arrangements to set support boards between the seats in the cockpit to support optional sleeping quarters in the cockpit with the boom room up.  It's private with the ripstop but lets the air circulate.  With the additional substitute screens for the stern and forward area it makes a great windscoop at anchor while keeping the flying varmits out.   The admiral and I lived on Bow vs. Wave for 7 days while cruising Lake Michigan but---without the boom room----we might have had to go to counseling afterwards.
     We usually sailed from early morning until mid-afternoon--17 boats ranging from a 42 Beneteau as the largest to my Rhodes and a Cat22 as the smallest.  Once anchored or docked, I would remove the ripstop on the sunny side of the boat to provide shade in the cockpit during  the afternoon and evening which converted the Rhodes into the mosts popular sundowner bar in the neighborhood.
