Maybe for small power boats, but it rely does not work that way. It what a
surveyor says. The problem is who are dealing with at "low cost boat" (as in
boat price increase to the 3.5 power) do not nominally play with that type
of broker/insurance/documentation/financing. A new boat can loose half it
value in 3 years and a 10 year boat can be worth more than a new boat. All
depends. Also there is only 10,000 sail boats made every year(from the 19
fly scott to 70 foot Hinkly, it a very small market.

ps. Banker love sailboats, always finance unless your credit is really
screwed up(or they think you can not afford the boat). It their dream to. It
not like a car loan at all, where the paper is sold on the secondary market
or a "repo" man can always get the asset. It some of the last private
banking around.

Ed,
none of that matters to the banker, he writes the loan based on that #. What
the boat is worth to a perspective buyer is up to the buyer.
