The biggest drawback to the arched design is limited headroom at the 
edges.  Once you got the curve right, to fit under the boom, I'm 
guessing you may not be able to sit back in the seats without your 
head touching the shade.  Hard to tell without some prototyping.  I'm 
rummaging thru the ol' camping equipment now :-)
