Small correction - depleted uranium has been processed to remove the U-235 
(fissionable)
from the U-238.  The U-235 enriched uranium is reactor fuel.  Fuel removed 
from a reactor is
"spent" and has lower levels of U-235 than the enriched fuel - but also has 
plutonium and lots
of other interesting highly radioactive material.  I am sure it would make a 
good flashlight.
