Thanks John. Will save info. in file. Are you on Cayuga or Seneca Lakes perchance? I sailed with a Cornell friend once on Cayuga going out of Ithaca end about 30 years ago and winds seemed to be constantly flukey Did 90 and 135 degrees changes at a drop of a hat. Boom constantly jinking from side to side. Is it that way with you??
Please send your own e_mail address if you want to converse about Rhodes sailing. . There is so much non-sailing political spouting off on the Rhodes 22 list that it all goes into my Junk Mail now. Don't want to miss any sailing tips and experiences. Mine is a bought new "83 and delivered on it's trailer upstate here by Stan and Rose personally who showed us how to rig it on Great Sacandaga Lake in Northville NY

I use my GPS primarily as a knotmeter. Since I'm on an inland lake,
currents and navigation are not an issue. We're always within site
of land. But even if I wasn't, the GPS reports your track and
heading, so leeway is clearly visible. The greater the difference
between track and heading, the greater the leeway. If I set a
destination, I also get VMG, ETA, and some other alphabet soup that I
don't care about. It also has a graphic compass, which isn't
affected by metal on the boat, so it helps confirm whatever my
  bulkhead compass is reading.

'Course it won't tell me water depth (the fish finder does that), but
it's a useful device - as long as its input data is reliable.

  Cheers!
