Bob:

I agree with your points, however please explain how garbage in the ocean
and mercury in drinking water are direct causes of global warming?

Freedom is the concept that made America great, but wanton abuse of power
and rights is the reason that the deomocratic social contract form of
governance evolved. Furthermore, there needs to be international
enforcement of pollution laws. Brad has pointed out the issue of fair
enforcement when you factor in underdeveloped countries.

My issue is with Mr. Gore is that America should not be the only country
following good judgments. Mr. Gore suggests that leadership requires such.
I say that the burden should not fall entirely on ordinary Americans while
the likes of Mr. Gore make idealistic pronouncements.

As Brad suggest, control of Freedom is a bigger issue. Allowing thugs and
religious despots to control issues will not let freedom exist. Following
Gandhi’s ideals of acquiescing to violence and avoiding the challenging of
thuggery, will not yield a better world.

Alternatively to you I suggest that the struggle in Iraq is part of garbage
in the ocean and mercury in the water and lack of concern about the
environment. Those who put kids in cars and then blow up the cars are
little different from those who wrongly destroy the environment. Neither
can be allowed to be decision makers for the rest of us.

So, before you pack up to visit the Adriatic, take your absentee ballots
with you. However, make your vote on demonstrated concern for freedom and
not socialism which is just another form of dictatorship.
