Thanks Rummy and Ed,I am not sure I can even get the lip of the piece up off the floor enough to either spray something in or get a pry bar under it but I will give both  a try.  I assume if I can't make any progress I can simply put some sort of schmutz into the bottom to seal it off from the foam (which has already taken a bit of a beating from a couple of years of neglect) and reseal the lip - as best I can - and move on.
