Ron,

You need to be on this list for a while to understand...  The action is not
in St. Petersburg, Florida.  You need to stop in Anderson, South Carolina. 
Rumor has it that another Rhodie who has been frozen out of his home sailing
will visit the infamous Rum Runner.

And it just might be another Cheese Head!  Hopefully it will be an Orange
Cheese Head to fit in with the locals here…

As to Lake Hartwell’s water level.  See:

What does this mean?  Full pond is 660.0 feet above sea level.  The current
reading of 650.27 means the lake is down about 10 feet.  What this does is
increase the shoreline length because it increases the number of islands. 
We now have to sail around more islands and several shortcuts that can be
used at higher lake levels are now dirt barriers.  

As to sailing on the big water, consider that the depth of the channel is
over 160 feet at full pond.  That leaves only 150 feet of water.  

So the question for those who have commented on drought and global warming,
is that sufficient?
