[Rhodes22-list] Question, non sailing--Now High Wind Tacking

Hi Lee,
We were also out yesterday and found we really needed to keep speed 
up to tack. Closehauled on starboard (usually our best tack) we 
discovered that the angle of the waves was such that the waves were 
pushing the bow downwind as they rolled up to us.. We also hadn't 
lifted the motor so that may have been a factor as well. We also had 
the boom down with full mainsail with the genoa reefed to a little 
over 110. We didn't run the sheets inside the shrouds but probably 
should have. We had the centerboard down - not sure if it helped us 
turn but it certainly helped us sail away from Swan Pt which was our 
lee shore. We were out in the early afternoon and had a strong 
inbound tidal current to deal with as well.
