[Rhodes22-list] Killing time

Elle,

Elle,

It was a beautiful day here as well. I spent the morning working on 51V
with Cora's help (photo attached) and regretfully ended Tomato2007 by
pulling up the now non-productive plants. The sailing season is just now
starting in Western Tennessee and tomorrow we clean, and hopefully sail the
CoraShen. Your post on education reminded me of Father Tribou. He didn't
suffer fools. I learned more in through my oldest son's high school
experience than he did. Spencer's mother, a nurse at the cancer center at
UAMS medical center treated Father T his last few years. One of my favorite
stories is how Spencer's name came over the loudspeaker one day to report to
the office on the 3pm announcements. Spence thought he was in deep trouble
over something he couldn't remember doing. Father T said, "son, ask your
mother to come by here tomorrow and dress my head". His goal was to live to
see the class of 2000 graduate. That was my son's class. I sat through the
most miserable and uncomfortable experience in the hottest gym I've ever
been in to witness that event. Father T's attitude was, we can spend the
money on air-conditioning or we can lower our standards. No one complained.
