Rummy,

Rest assured Rummy, sharing your observation has been very helpful; I do not consider it critical in the least.

One of the reasons I'm on the list is to learn as much as I can about sailing, and sailing the Rhodes 22.  Keep your observations coming

Caesar,
When I said release the topping lift, that's exactly what I meant. You will

want to secure the line once it has some slack in it so that you don't lose

it up the mast. By releasing the topping lift, you are allowing your main sheet

to tighten the main sail giving it that perfect shape we all strive for. I
hope you don't think I was being critical, it was just something I noticed
and
I've done the same thing myself after a couple of rum and cokes. You will
be
amazed at the difference it will make.

Rummy

Rummy,

Thanks for your experienced eye. I regret not having a seasoned sailor with
me to point out things that others often miss.

By release, do you mean that one should secure the topping lift when the
boom is a few degrees beyond perpendicular to the mast, say 95 degrees?

Caesar,
Just a casual observation, but you need to release the topping lift next
time you go out.
