Alice:

>From what you have said, you have done great. Your repair person's
recommendation that you take carb off and bring it to him is beyond
reproach. Do not attempt to do that nor consider him your repair person
again.

My recommendation is get help and take motor off boat. Even a big 9.9 four
stroke can be taken off a boat with competant help. You need at least three
persons aside from your self. You need extra lines of at least 1/2 inch
thickness and a block big enough to handle those. Those lines are rigged to
assist with lift and act as safety to prevent motor from going into the
drink.

It would be best to back boat against dock with just enough room to lift
motor out and place it on carry device such a wagon to haul to pick up truck
or van. Make sure that handle is place upward. Take fuel can and hose with
motor. Take it all to repair person that Mary Lou recommended.

Again, if there is a marina nearby that has boat motor lift crane, take it
there and sail boat home, or tow boat home.

Expect several days for repair shop to fix. Tell them to run for an hour or
so.

In the meantime, do not worry, it will get fixed. However, recognize that
it takes appropriate skills to fix it.

You have found out why Stan calls Elton for such problems. You might even
try calling Elton.
