I agree the bimini is terrific. I had to practically bludgeon Stan about the
head and shoulders to get him to sell me one (he doesn't recommend them;
thinks they are a pain, restrict visibility, etc) but he put this great dark
blue cloth one on the s/v Susan Kay ('93, recycled '08) and it makes a world
of difference cooling off the cockpit, keeps the ice from melting too fast,
and is just great relief from the unrelenting New Jersey sun.  The boat
sails fine with the bimini. So what if you can't see much to leeward. That
just adds to the excitment of not seeing much ahead with the Genoa.

The power engine lift is a hoot. Two batteries makes me feel safer. A friend
of mine refers to the Rhodes as a "gadget boat", but I will now just smile
and wave and say "Fuqua".
