[Rhodes22-list] Future of Da List

I don't think this week is the first time we've lost people because they
were tired of political battles. Look at the archives from five years ago.
We had a lot of regular posters who are gone now, and who had really, really
good information and stories from all facets of life. I would love to get
some of them back in the community.

You know, we're the last vestige organization holding tight to an email
list. All we need is a bulletin board where we can set up different forums.
We can have one for news/politics and a separate one for sailing, etc. I
know Nabble already presents our emails this way, but they only have one big
forum, and I think we need at least two.

My experience with message boards is that it is good to have many
moderators, whose purpose is to filter out spam. I'm sure the filtering is
better today than when I set them up regularly.

I've also thought that it would be a good idea to launch a Rhodes 22 wiki
that we could all have rights to edit. So for example, we have an
interesting thread about Penetrol, and someone takes the initiative to write
up a paragraph or two summary that's in an online encyclopedia for us
forever.

I could provide some space and some time to get things set up, but if we
went this route, the whole community would need to be ready to contribute
time and content.

You are correct and I apologize to you individually and the list in
general. Caught up in the moment I behaved exactly as I was denouncing.

But... I hope it demonstrates my frustration. No, I do not own the
list, but I do manage the resources it depends on. Those are
different things. If someone else would like to step forward and
offer the resources I will relinquish my role (gladly at this point).

What I am saying, just so it's clear to everyone, is that I have
reached my limit. I offered to host the list and the website in
order to continue a valuable resource for Rhodes 22 owners and
fans. It has been a disappointing experience to say the least.

So, either the character of the list changes or I will "manage" some
other solutions. Capiche?
