Thank you Bill, that's very informative.  I think you posted 
something like this a while back too and it's appreciated.

However, a large portion of the list members are running MS Outlook 
and apparently filtering is not so intuitive or flexible in 
Outlook.  Is there an Outlook user out there who has got filtering 
working in a similar fashion?  Would love to get step-by-step for that as well.
