Lee,
Do you have to disconnect the motor tiller link to raise the motor? 
How much of a pain is it to do that? Do you have to store any of the 
parts or do they all stay attached? We still don't have a lot of 
experience with our Yamaha but so far we haven't been able to 
maneuver the boat as well at slow speeds in tight situations as well 
as we did with the old Honda. We've always just steered with the 
rudder. I suspect it's more a matter of learning to coordinate the 
power of the new motor with the rudder but the tiller to rudder 
linkage may be the last resort.
