Hi Mike,

Do waste your time and look at the 73 but be willing to invest time and
effort to make the boat into what you want. The boat you saw in the "Kinzua
Pictures" is a 1971 (I Believe ) and I Spent $1800 in materials to repair
the CB and re finish the hull and about 200 hrs. worth of effort as well. My
boat came with a trailer, functional sails, 2002 Nissan 8 hp. engine nose
cushions cockpit cushions but no head,no stove, no electrical systems, a
sink but no working pump or water storage tank. Even so with a competent
skipper (I am not such a sailor yet) I would sail my 71 against any other
Rhodes 22's from any year. The Interior and various bells and whistles I
hope to over time continue to restore my boat as much as possible. The nice
part is to have a bare canvas and a chance to make it to suit your needs. Of
course you also must be willing to do the work yourself. If you have the time
and skills you can have the functional equivalent of a new boat for 1/4
the price of a new one. I have spent about $4600 to get to the picture you
saw and expect to spend 2-3 more winters and $5400 or so finish the job so
total cost is projected at 10 to 12 thousand and 3-4 winters of effort. This
would include new standing rigging and sails.
BUT LOOK AT IT BEFORE YOU BUY
Good hunting
