[Rhodes22-list] Chosing Genoa by jimjim02

Mary Lou,

My tiller has a removable Forespar tiller extension that I only use in heavy
air. The Tiller Watch fits in the Forespar fitting. It probably wouldn't
work well on boats with lots of weather helm, but the Rhodes is so balanced
it's just fine.

PT,
I think Lee is referring to the hiking stick (tiller extender) which does ok
to hold the tiller in place when locked into a clip on the stern rail, but
the device you mention looks like it would do a good job and be easier to
adjust. Fred was immediately interested. On the other hand we use the tiller
extension a lot for its primary purpose. I don't use it much but Fred uses
it all the time. One pic is of it holding the boat on course while Fred
perches on the coaming (or is that the gunnel?) and the other is of my
grandson thinking he's in control with Fred perched on the other
coaming/gunnel.

Lee,

I haven't seen one of Stan's, but the Tiller Watch is so elegant and simple
Stan could have designed it.

PT,

Interesting. Aside from being far less expensive, have you compared
this to Stan's locking tiller extender for advantages and disadvantages?

Most of my sailing is hands-free and through overuse and abuse my
extender isn't sticking like it once did.

Thanks!

Lee

Rummy, try one of these. I got mine last week and the workmanship is so
gorgeous it's like fine art.
