[Rhodes22-list] (politics) See with a little work we can reach common ground

Rob,

If by "they" you mean al Qaeda you are correct. We made some serious
mistakes after the fall of Bahgdad, including disbanding the Iraqi army and
not keeping Sunni civil servants in power. The Sunni's never gave up hope
of being restored to the ruling party, didn't participate in the first round
of elections, and sided with the al Qaeda (with logistal support from Iran)
to fight the US occupation force. Once the Iraqi's decided that al Qaeda
had raped one too many 12 year old boys and 13 year old girls, both sides of
the "civil war" sided with the US and now al Qaeda is on the ropes and even
by their own admission, they can't recruit new "freedom fighters" for Iraq.
The Maliki government has met or is meeting most of the political mileposts
set by the Democrats in Congress (not that you read about it in the press).
Will they return to a civil war after we leave? Know one knows for sure but
it would be inhumane to wish for that just in the interest of scoring cheap
political points.

If you are so precient that you know what tomorrow will bring, can you spare
some time for me to go over some of my investments?
