Hey, Lee thanks for the explanation of the long
rectangular body of water just south of the
bridge. Fred and I were looking at the chart Ed
posted and we both said: I don't think I've ever
noticed that, I wonder what it is? I think that
whenever we've gone past we've either been
sighing with relief (southbound) or watching
carefully to see who is coming through or just
ahead of us (northbound). In any event usually
concentrating on what the current is doing. Both
Piney Narrows (left) and Mears (right) always
struck me as really busy places. We've stopped
for fuel at each of them over the years. Looks
like prices at the Narrows are not too different
than Rock Hall though I'm not sure there are many
$2500 slips left in RH proper. Kent County has
quite a few slips at the various public landings.
Most of them are pretty primitive with the
exception of the ones in the middle of Rock Hall
harbor which have water and electric. (Info at
http://www.kentcounty.com/gov/pubworks/landings.htm)
The web site says there's a waiting list for all
slips but a lot of the ones at some of the
smaller landings like Spring Cove seem to be
empty most of the time. I think I'm happier at
the private marina with more folks around to watch over my boat.
