Idid have a GB motor mount, but it was cracked and would gouge the stern when
lowered or raised. We put on a conventional, spring assisted mount from West
Marine (installed in their parking lot). The new bracket works great...it
actually raised the motor by itself with the spring tension. I would have
maybe considered buying a new one from Stan, but we didn't know it was
broken until we got to Rochester. We had planned to pick up the boat, haul
it back to Sandusky, rig and launch, and have it in our slip by Sunday
night. The only thing standing in the way of completing our task was that
motor mount, so we made the decision to put on the conventional mount and
get it in the water. The install was a piece of cake, other than curling up
like a pretzel to get in and out of the stern locker so we could get at the
bolts.
