[Rhodes22-list] main cockpit drain and laz bulkhead

Peter,

As water fills your boat the waterline keeps changing until it reaches 
the top of the built in flotation.  Then the boat just sits in the water 
at that level, never sinking, but impossible to bail.

I think of the laz as part of the bilge.  The R-22 uses interior space 
most boat builders reserve for bilge, resulting in a huge cabin for a 
small boat.

If a following wave swamps the cockpit, I want the boat to have some 
place to dispose of the water while I work out the problem.

I keep my boat neutrally balanced port and starboard, fore and aft.  
Then I put weight where I want it to keep the boat under control.  If 
water gets in, I want it evenly distributed.
