John,

As we both understand, file size is the issue, but a 640 pixel wide 
image is what most people see on their screens when they attach the file.

I have found most people can resize their images, but few know what the 
size should be.

Picassa does it automatically. 

If someone is manually resizing a picture for email, recipients are 
hoping to get an image that will fit on their screen.
