[Rhodes22-list] why City folk Shouldn't move to the Country

My daughter found a tiny baby outside and saved it from being eaten by our
cats so we raised it for a couple of weeks till it started looking cute and
I knew it was time for it to go...they can grow to be quite large and there
were several photos online (15 or more years ago)of people in California who
raised them as pets...Houdini (he could escape from any cage I could
find/rig/rerig)started turning the most beautiful shade of silver and
fluffing up like crazy when we finally dropped him off with a nice but crazy
woman on the west bank of New Orleans...she had twenty or so in varying
sizes in her house (in cages and definitely not potty trained)...Houdini
hissed all the time, but he didn't mean it...he was just tiny and
frightened...don't think I would go NEAR a larger one...Houdini could fit on
just your fingers when we found him and he filled your hand when we dropped
him off...grew amazingly fast...don't think I could ever eat one...good
thing I'm not around cows...

Joe,

To my knowledge, they never have been friendly.

Where I grew up we eat possum, and its quite a delicacy in the wild meat
category.  We go hunting for possum; it's called manicou in Trinidad &
Tobago.

I can tell you from experience that its finger-licking good.

Caesar

Elle,
Thanks. I really needed that laugh. I grew up in the country and
actually had a possum for a pet once.
They really are not very friendly!
Joe
