Subject: [Rhodes22-list] A Case for Obama; Calm Yourself Tootle
(politics)

 Tootle & Other Colleagues;

I suggest there are explanations for those of us who intend (if the Good
Lord is willing and the creek don't rise) to vote for Senator Obama
other than those put forward in your latest screed. I prefer to focus on
policy issues as they relate to both candidates, rather than the
hysterical rantings of fearful conspiracy theorists. People who support
Obama tend to want us out of Iraq sooner rather than later, want us to
focus on the really dangerous bad guys in Afghanistan rather than waste
our resources chasing folks who don't matter in the wrong place. We
tend to be the people who believe collaborative efforts overseas are
more likely to be in our long term best interests more than cowboy
diplomacy. We tend to think Sen Obama may be more likely to be accepted
as an honest broker between the Israeli Government and the Palestinians
to bring about the two-state solution all reasonable people want in that
theater. We believe Obama is more likely to appoint Federal Judges who!
understand that they are the last best defense between the potential
abuses of our wonderful Constitutional Rights by an out-of-control
Executive branch, and who will guard "The Great Writ"(habeas corpus),
the single most powerful human rights tool since the creation of the
planet, against the Dick Cheney wannabes. We believe Obama is more
likely to support federal policies encouraging embryonic stem cell
research, climate change research, alternative fuels, support of the
public schools, teaching of Darwinian natural selection (evolution) as
opposed to Biblical Creation Science (?). We don't view gays who want
to make the same commitments to each other as heterosexuals as a threat,
and we're happy to have them serve their country in the military, and we
think Obama is more likely to adopt policies toward those ends. We think
the reproductive choices made by women are none of our or the
government's business and we have good reason to believe Obama is more
likely to feel!
the same way and act accordingly.
Tootle, you can throw words like marxism and sheep around all you want.
Just remember if you do it it says alot more about you than it does
about us.

One friendly suggestion. Maybe you should switch to decaf .

Cheers!
