OK, I did a little more checking, and here's the rest of that story:


It was from Derams for My Father". Obama is quoting (in his book, and in 
the subsequent recording in his voice) a sermon from Dr. Wright. Those 
are the words of Dr Wright:

It is this world, a world where cruise ships throw away more food in a 
day than most residents of Port-au-Prince see in a year, where white 
folks' greed runs a world in need, apartheid in one hemisphere, apathy 
in another hemisphere...That's the world! On which hope sits!
====

To me, that's a lot different than it being "Obama's word".

However, it does bring up an interesting point. When Dr Wright's "God 
damn America" clip became publicized, at first Obama said you can't 
judge the man on one small clip, then asserted it was not the man as he 
knew him.

However, it does seem to make two things clear.
1) If Dr. Wright's quote was important enough to Obama to include it in 
his book, not as a "this is something bad the man said" but rather as 
some sort of analogy to the way things are, then it's obviously 
something he believes too, at least at some level.
2) It does away with the notion that Obama wasn't aware of Dr Wright's 
racist views long before the "God damn America" sermon started getting 
traction in the news.
