[Rhodes22-list] Deregulation and Da List/update

Herb,

i have been preoccupied ;^) lately...so now on my first day back at work at the marina (3.5 hrs & NOOOO customers,) I've been able to skim back thru all the posts I'd missed ...

You said the following:
>I can't help but notice that the only
>ones she blows the whistle on are the guys on the right.

Sorry if that is true...I try to be an 'equal opportunity 'monitor. I really don't pay too much attention to 'left' or 'right' but only to the argument...and the tone thereof.

I could do better in the future...except a number of boats have left the harbor.....;^(

Ben,

Why would that "help"? If you feel you're "dominating"
the conversation
(I certainly don't feel that way), just post less. But your posts are
certainly not edging anyone out.

Why were you "shocked" by my response to Elle? You know I'm
bombastic,
so THAT shouldn't have shocked you. Elle's a big girl (figuratively, no

offense Elle), she wants to play with the boys, she can expect to get a
little bruised every now and then. Frankly, while the "playground
monitor" symbol has some merit, I can't help but notice that the only
ones she blows the whistle on are the guys on the right. Folks love a
fair teacher, even a strict one; but one who has her pets is annoying,
one who regularly targets a particular group even more so. The
playground monitor didn't blow her whistle when I was called (outright)
a racist. She didn't calmly tell the little boy that was pouting and
threatening to leave that if he calls the boys names, they may call him
names back. I could call up other analogies, but you and she are smart
folks, I think you get it.

YOU, I'm sure, are disappointed that Bill and Brad are so completely
unrepentant. What you fail to see is that I, and I'm sure they, are
disappointed that YOU are so unrepentant. The parody that stirred all
this nonsense up was NOT racist. And we, or at least I, am offended that
you try to make make it out so, and in the process imply that I (and
those that SEE the humor) are racist. My biggest disappointment is that
I do not have the glib tongue or debating ability to make YOU (and
others like you) see that the racism was displayed when the original
writer of the editorial in the LA times explained for the world to see
why whitey was supporting the "magic negro". I found the original
article disgusting. You did not. I don't understand why.

I don't think your solution is a solution at all. There are plenty of
libs in the world, and the vacuum you leave behind will most undoubtedly
be filled with someone that makes less of an attempt to be reasonable in
the discussions. That will be missed. At the same time, even
unreasonable folks are missed. I've never seen Rummy make a reasonable
argument for his dislike of Bush, but his other contributions will be
sorely missed.
