Ed,
My mother used to say (and your mother did too I'll bet) "If you 
can't say anything nice don't say anything at all." Would they (our 
mothers) have been deserving of that term?

The problem on the list is that the intolerance of views easily 
becomes the expressed or implied dislike of the people (the 
listmembers) who hold those views.

Both sides of the political fence are guilty.
