Carl,
I could not find measurements of the bow pulpit in my saved messages,
but I did run across some older photos that show different views of it,
if these help at all. I expect someone will find a tape measure and get
back to you. - rob

Subject: [Rhodes22-list] Height of pulpit?

Hello all,
I am new to the list, but have lurked round for about 1.5 years now. I
bought John's old boat a little more than a year ago
http://www.nabble.com/New-Guy-td5403773.html#a5412708 and we (myself,
wife and 2 kids ) have been sailing quite a bit ever since.
which is one reason I have not posted, been too busy.we have made 4
trips on the ocean and numerous ones in our local lake the longest being

over the last Christmas break, 7 days and 7 nights sailing aransas bay,
corpus christi bay and the ICW in between, with a bit of laguna Madre
thrown in at the end.
We are very pleased with the handling of our boat, and have seen every
type of weather from scorching hot sun whilst being becalmed, to a 50+
(43 knot) squall in FL. The only real misadventures we have had have
been self inflected, but we have been learning very valuable
lessons, such as...DON'T FORGET THE PLUG ! and my new note to self.."if
you see fishing boats running from a black cloud...try to catch up."
Rose, my lovely wife of 20 years has been unsuccessfully trying to
learn to fish during our outings, not catching anything yet, so if
anyone has any pointers about how to troll behind a sailboat, or why no
fish seem to be biting while we are at anchor, feel free to drop her a
line.

I am in the process of making a pulpit and had a couple questions. could

someone measure the height of your pulpit for me? I am guessing the
stock ones will be about 28 inches. I tried finding a used one, but
there are very few boat yards here
(Fox,AR) to get parts from (read that as none), so I am planning on
making quite a few things myself..I work at a machine shop, so I can
fabricate footpads, and tig weld together the tubing.

I realize the boat I have bought is quite old, but we like her and plan
on renovating as we have time/money to do so.I am planning on
leangthing the galley a bit, as the floor plan on ours is a bit
different than the new ones. ours has a cross beam instead of a center
pole, which I think I like better, it gives a bit more wigglin around
room.Although the new "swell head" looks really neat.

gonna run for now, will try and post some pics of out journeys,

BFN,
Carl
