[Rhodes22-list] boat ventilation

I think that there are two distinctly different needs for fans in the R22.
One is to reduce the tendency for dampness and mold to form when unoccupied.
For this, the solar powered 3-4" port fans may work very well. I have not
had much of a problem or experience with these units. The second need for
ventilation is when the R22 is in use, particularly if you cruise. I have
found that the 10" portable fan sold at Walmart (
http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=10817194 ) seems to
provide very comfortable and quiet ventilation while aboard. It is battery
powered (8 "D" batteries) and runs on 12V boat power using a "cigarette
lighter" cord that mates to the AC adapter input on the side (cord from
RadioShack.) You may even want to put 2 aboard. They are lightweight, fold
up and may be hung (there's a little hook) when not in use. I like lots of
air movement on still nights, even when in the cockpit.
