Correction.

I should have said fish-eye view, which is a view from under and aft of the stern, seeing the depth, and bottom contours for some distance forward of the bow.  Very cool.  The view suggests that you can see if your are heading into a shallow area, or into some rock.

Can anyone tell how accurate this really is?

Hi Guys,

Duckworks has one that they have put together. It's the same pressurized spray can type with an improved spray nozzle that might have come from the kitchen sink sprayer, but I saw a plastic bag type which will not take up much space when not in use.  

I finally installed my GPS today; lots of fun.  The first reading I got on the screen was the depth at my slip - 46.7 ft.  I could not believe it, I'm just over 100ft from the shore, so I double checked by droping my anchor.  Guess what?  It's pretty accurate.

You guys must be quite familiar with this, but the fish-eye could be very helpful for sailing in strange waters, and close to shore.  The question is how accurate is this?  Anyway, lots of features and views to play around with.

As an option, Coleman makes a shower rig with water heated with a 16oz propane bottle.  Might work for some.  It does for me.
