Rob,
>From my experience installing mine last week, I can only see three places
where the lift could bind:

1) The strap which raises and lowers the lift is binding on something,
either inside the lazz or on the lift. Also make sure that the electrical
connections are tight both on the motor and the battery.
2) The two side rollers are binding or perhaps the bearings were not
installed properly.
3) The motor mount has a wheel which may some how be binding against the
track it is supposed to run on. Check for any warping on the track.

This lift isn't all that fancy. It's pretty basic engineering. As usual,
Stan has done a fantastic job designing this gem. I suppose when the final
diagnosis is in, it won't be any of the things I just mentioned.

Ok, those of you with these motor lifts, what causes the lowering to stop?

Motorized Lift Breakdown

Alice,

First of all, it was a pleasure for Allison and I to have the time and the
brew with you on Sunday. I'm glad I could help resolve your anchor
bolting issue. It should hold well, and long term. Your boat is a beauty,
although paralyzed with your motor lift problem. We had our rather long return
drive back yesterday, but excellent travel weather.

I'll offer a possible solution, short of the very long trek south. An
ounce of effort now could save you pounds of agony later. You will have the
best collection of R22 experts at your doorstep for almost a week. Stan
will have a demo boat in the water and two on display. Stan has a necessary
selling priority during show hours but may be able to help anyway. Others
at the show also can help. Take along a short video of the working lift,
both raising and lowering, from your cell phone camera. This may reveal a
problem.

If you can unstep and transport the boat to Truxton Park, near the end of
Spa Creek in Annapolis, which is where Stan or any of us launch, and keep
the boat on the trailer, the entire lift assembly is open to inspection and
repair. It has to be very obvious where the travel stoppage occurs and
why. I'll emphasize, a little intuition will go a long way and the diagnosis
should be straight-forward. Given that there have been other lift issues
also, the system integrity can be fully verified. Presto, you'll be back on
the water!

If you don't have a trailer, and I know Lee does not, someone needs to
pitch in and help. Stan's trailer will be at the park if the demo boat is in
the water, so maybe he will accommodate. I suspect he wants to help
resolve this problem, but within the limits of his schedule. No doubt your
schedule would be burdened, but consider the alternatives. The very best day
would be tommorrow, VIP Day, since show traffic for the small boats is so
negligible.

Remember, Objective - Solution!

Have a good day, call if I can be of help.

the gentleman who had to take the motor and work on it, came to replace it
and attach all the electric fittings. He said that the motor will not go
down all the way.....it goes halfway and gets stuck ....it comes up OK.
>After spending 1.5 hrs he left the boat with the motor on the mount but
the motor's electric wiring not attached. This will make 5 'housecalls' that
he's had to make to the boat (and that I have to pay for) in the past
month....3 of this due to the faulty motor mount.

Annapolis for the show. As you must recall, Kent Island is right over the Bay
Bridge. I'll meet you any day/time you want! I'm desparate.
